TOMORROW: Congressional Hearing on Racially and Motivated Violent Extremism

(WASHINGTON) – Tomorrow, April 29th, the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Counterterrorism, chaired by Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), will hold a virtual hearing with counterterrorism officials to discuss racially and motivated violent extremism.

This hearing will give Members the opportunity to discuss: 1) the international and transnational Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremist (RMVE) threat landscape; 2) the spread of RMVE narratives and counternarratives; and 3) how the U.S. Departments of State and Homeland Security are addressing these threats. Of all domestic terrorist actors, white supremacist RMVEs present the most persistent and concerning transnational connections. Although some Federal government entities have recently stepped up efforts to counter these threats, the U.S. still seems to be lagging behind and much more needs to be done.

This virtual hearing will be streamed live on YouTube and on our website.
